Részlet Régheny Tamás 2003-as interjújából Szabados Györggyel: ‘A láthatatlan hatalma. Zene, kultusz, géniusz’
– Lát-e lehetőséget a mai állapotok meghaladására? Lehet-e ebben a zenének szellemi irányítás mellett esetleg gyakorlati szerepe?
Elmondom saját próbálkozásunkat, a MAKUZ, a Magyar Királyi Udvari Zenekar példáját, amely hasonlatként talán nem rossz.
A zenekarban az volt a gyakorlat, hogy ne csak egyedül vagy ketten, hanem akár tizenötös létszámban is tudjunk minden előzetes megkötöttség nélkül is improvizálni. Tudtam, hogy az ehhez szükséges magas szintű szellemi jelenlét és szakmai alkalmasság csak akkor érhető el, ha képesek leszünk magunkban és közösen, egyként felfogni sejtésünk géniuszát, aki bennünk és közöttünk mindent összerendez és összetart. De ez a kapcsolat nem jöhet létre, ha az ott muzsikáló zenészben nem támad fel, ha nem bontakoztatja ki az ember morálisan, lelkileg és szellemileg egyaránt ezt a géniuszt; ha nem “avatódik be”. Ha nem merül a “születés-előtti”-be, a tiszta és örök benső rendbe és annak autentikus hangi megszólaltatásába a zenész és a társaság. Ezek a gyakorlatok tizenöt-húsz éven keresztül folytak, amíg sikerült magunkat olyan tiszta és magabiztos állapotba hozni, amelyben a hiúság csírája sem volt megtalálható. Csak így hallható meg ugyanis magunkban az a bennünk születő és kikívánkozó hang és hangzás, amely (zenei) megnyilatkozásként hat, és rögvest vezérel, jelleget és arányokat, sőt formát teremt, szépséget, miközben magával ragad. Csak ekkor tudom átengedni teljesen magamat világosan, automatikusan, pontosan, összes képességemmel és erényeimmel, minden “akarat nélkül”, szinte már csak a jelenlét által, az Egész sugalmának, sugallatának, a születő zene csodájának. “Miként a Nap és a Hold sem tud visszatükröződni a zavaros vízben, azonképpen a Mindenható sem tud visszatükröződni egy olyan szívben, amely az »én« és az »enyém« ideájától zavaros.” Pontosan ugyanaz a helyzet egy zenekaron belül, mint ami a társadalom helyes szerveződésének a képlete. Nem véletlen, hogy Fellini is készített hasonló, bár inkább szatirikus céllal filmet egy zenekari próbáról. Ő éppen az ellentétét, a világ széthullását meséli el e látomásában, ironikusan, gyönyörűen, fájdalmasan. A Magyar Királyi Udvari Zenekarban (Baló István, Benkő Róbert, Dresch Dudás Mihály, Geröly Tamás, Grencsó István, Kobzos Kiss Tamás, Kovács Ferenc, Lőrinczky Attila, Makó Miklós, de korábban már Faragó Antal, Vajda Sándor, Kathy Horváth Lajos, Váczi Tamás, Tréfás István és Tarkó Magda is) a zene és a zenélés gyönyörűségén át azt próbáltuk meg, olykor igen küszködve, máskor önfeledten, szinte simán és boldogan, hogy hogyan lehet kibontani magunkban és magunkból egy jó, igaz és megnyugtató világot. Az épülés természetes és törvényszerű módját kerestük és gyakoroltuk, a zene éltető közegében, tehetségünk eszközeivel. Mindent csak ezen az alapon lenne szabad tenni és tanítani. Látván azt az “ikont” és érezvén azt a géniuszt, ami-aki küld, eligazít, véd és szeret – mindig mindent mélyen belülről, önmagunkon túlról indítani, ápolni és terelni, ez a rombolhatatlanság, ez a titok, ez a lényeg.

Sehen Sie eine Möglichkeit die heutigen Zustände hinter sich zu lassen? Kann die Musik dabei neben der geistigen Führung eventuell auch eine praktische Rolle spielen?
Ich erzähle von unseren eigenen Versuch, über MAKUZ, über das „Ungarische Königliche Hoforchester“, das vielleicht als Vergleich nicht schlecht ist. Üblich war, dass wir im Orchester nicht nur allein oder zu zweit, sondern sogar zu fünfzehnt – ohne vorherige Absprachen – fähig waren zu improvisieren. Ich wusste, dass die dazu notwendige geistige Gegenwart höchsten Niveaus und die professionelle Eignung nur dann zu erreichen sind, wenn wir in der Lage sind den Genius unserer Eingebung in uns als einzelner und als Gemeinschaft zu fühlen, den Genius, der in uns und um uns alles ordnet und zusammenhält. Aber diese Beziehung kann nicht entstehen, wenn er im so musizierenden Künstler nicht aufersteht, wenn der Mensch diesen Genius sich moralisch, seelisch und geistig nicht entfalten lässt: wenn er nicht eingeweiht wird. Wenn der Musiker und die ganze Gruppe nicht in das „Vorgeburtliche“, in die reine ewige innere Ordnung und deren authentisch hervorgerufene Klangordnung eintauchen. Die Übungen wurden 15-20 Jahre fortgesetzt, bis es uns gelang, einen solchen reinen und selbstsicheren Zustand zu erreichen, indem Eitelkeit nicht einmal im Keim zu finden war. Nur so können wir nämlich den in uns entstehenden Ton oder Klang hören, der sich äußern will, der als musikalische Offenbarung wirkt und uns leitet, den Charakter und die Proportionen, sogar Form und Schönheit schafft, während er uns mit sich fort reißt. Nur dann kann ich mich völlig klar, automatisch, genau, mit all meinen Fähigkeiten und Tugenden, ohne „alles Willentliche“, sozusagen nur im jetzt der Inspiration und dem Impuls des Ganzen, dem Wunder der geborenen Musik hingeben.
Zitat von Ramakrishna: „Wie sich Sonne und Mond nicht in trüben Gewässers widerspiegeln können, so kann sich der Allmächtige nicht in einem Herzen widerspiegeln, dass nur von der Idee des Ich und Mein getrübt ist.“
Die Situation in einem Orchester ist genauso, wie die Formel der richtigen Organisation der Gesellschaft. Kein Zufall, das auch Fellini einen ähnlichen Film über eine Orchesterprobe gemacht hat, obwohl eher mit einem satirischer Ausrichtung. Er erzählt in dieser Vision genau das Gegenteil, den Zerfall der Welt -ironisch, wunderschön, schmerzhaft. Wir im „Ungarischen Königlichen Hoforchester(István Baló, Róbert Benkő, Mihály Dresch Dudás, Tamás Geröly, István Grencsó, Tamás Kobzos Kiss, Ferenc Kovács, Attila Lőrinczky, Miklós Makó aber früher schon Antal Faragó, Sándor Vajda, Lajos Kathy Horváth, Tamás Váczi, István Tréfás und Magda Tarkó) haben es durch die Schönheit der Musik und des Musizierens -mal ringend, mal selbstvergessen, ebenmäßig und glücklich versucht, wie wir eine gute, wahre und beruhigende Welt in uns und aus uns entfalten können. Wir haben die natürliche und gesetzmäßige Weise der Erbauung gesucht und geübt, in der lebenspendenden Sphäre der Musik, mit den Mitteln unseres Talents. Man dürfte alles nur auf dieser Grundlage tun und unterrichten. Das „Ikon“ sehend und den Genius fühlend, die uns aussenden, anweisen, schützen und lieben – immer alles von tief innen heraus, über uns hinaus starten, pflegen und lenken – das bedeutet die Unzerstörbarkeit, das ist das Geheimnis, das ist das Wesentliche!
Excerpt from the interview conducted by Tamás Régheny with György Szabados in 2003: “The power of the invisible: Music, cult, genius”
Do you see any possibility to overcome today’s conditions? May music play in this process a practical role besides intellectual directing?
I tell you about our own approach, about MAKUZ, the „Hungarian Royal Court Orchestra“, which might be a not too bad example. Our praxis in the orchestra was to improvise music, not as a solo or duo, but even with fifteen musicians together, without any previous agreement. I was aware of the fact that we can reach the necessary spiritual presence of the highest level and the professional suitability when we are able to understand the genius of our inspiration within ourselves as individuals, and as a collective; the genius who arranges and keeps together everything in us and around us. But this relationship cannot be born when the genius doesn’t rise in the musician, when he doesn’t unfold the genius in moral, mental, and spiritual terms; when he is not initiated, when the musician and the group don’t immerse in the state “before birth”, in the pure and eternal inner order, and in its authentic acoustic evocation. These exercises went on for over 15-20 years, until we succeeded in achieving such a pure and self-confident state, in which no trace of vanity could be found. This is the only way to hear the sound born in us and wanting to be expressed, which has the effect of musical revelation, and which leads us immediately, creates characteristics, proportions, and even form, beauty, while it captivates us. Only in this state am I able to succumb totally, clearly, automatically, exactly, with all my capabilities and virtues, “without any will”, almost only by the presence, to the inspiration, to the suggestion coming from the Whole, to the miracle of the music to be born. Ramakrishna said: „Like Sun and Moon cannot reflect in murky water, so the Almighty also cannot find his reflection in a heart, which is murky from the idea of Me and Mine.” The situation in an orchestra is similar to the formula of the correct organization in society. It is no coincidence that Fellini made a film about the rehearsal of an orchestra, although with a satirical objective. In his vision he tells in an ironic, wonderful, painful way about the opposite, about the disintegration of the world. We in the Hungarian Royal Court Orchestra (István Baló, Róbert Benkő, Mihály Dresch Dudás, Tamás Geröly, István Grencsó, Tamás Kobzos Kiss, Ferenc Kovács, Attila Lőrinczky, Miklós Makó but earlier already Antal Faragó, Sándor Vajda, Lajos Kathy Horváth, Tamás Váczi, István Tréfás and Magda Tarkó), we have been trying through music and through the beauty of playing music – sometimes struggling, other times oblivious of all around us, smoothly and happily – how we could unfold in us and from us a good, true, and comforting world. We have been looking for the natural and legitimate way of edification within the life-giving sphere of music, with the means of our talents. Everything should be done and taught only on this foundation. Seeing the “icon” and feeling the genius, which or who sends, directs, protects, and loves us – to launch, to care for and to steer everything always from deep within, beyond ourselves; this is indestructibility, this is the secret, this is the essence!
